At the count

It’s been a mad few weeks and things should start to return to normal soon. I normally go nuts at the election counts with pics but I just wasn’t able to do as much this year. I may do another post as I do have more pics (just not as much as other years) but in the meantime, here’s two from Saturday in the RDS.

Sandymount Strand – 1/365

I must be nuts or suffering from a mad rush of blood to the head but I am half thinking about doing another 365 photo a day project this year. Unless I am loose in the rules of this, it won’t happen, particularly given this is an election year and work is going to be nuts. You may remember I did one back in 2009 and got lost in the last four weeks of the year with what pics I had taken, where they were, what was when and the biggest most confusing thing of all not uploading enough as I went along.

So as before if I miss a day I won’t take that to be the end, but sure I’ll see how it goes as the year goes on

But it was challenging enough to make me want to try again. So here goes, number 1 of this year’s 365; it was taken on Sandymount Strand late this afternoon. I’ll also try when possible to upload any photo information just in case some of you want to know settings etc.

Sandymount Strand 1/365 taken with my Sigma 12 – 24mm lens at 12mm, 3200 ISO, 1/6 secs, f 4.5 – post processing includes tweaking an adjustment layer to brighten up slightly as well as including a slight blue filter to take away the very orange glow from the city lights.

Brazil 2-1 North Korea

I was going home on the bus this evening which was stopped at lights and I could hear roaring, shouting and general hearty yahoos. It was until we went up the road and saw this gang of happy Brazilians that I realised what was going on. So I had to get off the bus and get a pic.

365 – RIP

I have finally admitted to myself that I have messed up/failed my 365, work has been outrageously busy, along with the dark mornings and evenings, so many different factors were all nails in the coffin and so bloody close to the end of the year but hey ho what can you do.

I still have a glut of pics to post as I was missing days and didn’t want to do anything until I had them all sorted. Then I got caught up in doing up a Blurb book for herself’s 18th which is coming up in the next couple of weeks which meant hunting out, scanning, and cleaning up (lots and lots of cleaning up) of pics. I’ve been cutting out pics and sourcing all the bits and pieces I wanted for the book.

So the final date was approaching to get the book uploaded so it would be sent in time for her birthday and my baby got sick. No not the Young Wan or indeed the doggy, but my mac. The monitor went and bang went my progress on the book which had some final tweaking completely stalled. I have still to leave the mac in to be fixed but the hard drive seems okay as we were able (thanks Tom) to find the blurb file and copy it to a hard drive. Fantastic Neil who just got a beautiful new computer lent it to me but (and I should have checked) it didn’t have a five point port so I sit her no further along.

Book problems aside, which I’ll sort out somehow, I am hoping whatever is going on with my baby is easy to mend. Fingers crossed.

Anyway seeing as how I am not working on the book tonight, I thought I would just throw up some of the pics I have been waiting to post as part of the now-defunct 365. As I find the others, when I get my computer back up and running I’ll throw them too.

I have it in my head to put the 365 pics all together in a movie, but then again that might not happen either; we’ll see. Pics to follow.
