Dail protests; Oct 4th – Oct 7th 2010

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Unfortunately this week I missed a protest against deportation, I heard them, ran out and by the time I got there, they were packing up to leave. I also missed the storming of the Dail by the Fig Roll lads but others managed to snap them about town.

Dáil Protests – May 11th – May 21st

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

It was another busy two weeks at the Dáil with protests. As some of you may be aware, the Dáil sits from Tuesday to Thursday with most of the action concentrated at that time. There are a few people who are regular fixtures outside the Dáil and as I said previously I’ll take them now and again, and this week it is the anti-civil union blokes who feature again.

I was  also lucky to get some of the people from the General Election facebook group in their flash mob type very loud lunchtime beep your horns protest. Apparently they intend to protest at the Dáil every Wednesday from 1 to 2pm so if you have some time to spare and a colander or two, you know where to go.

Why are Irish people so undemanding

Protesting Wednesday

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Wednesday is a busy day in Dail Eireann and as such is also a busy day for demonstrations; today was no exception with protests from Roscommon Against Headshops and Survivors Against Abuse in Industrial Schools as well as two men who have been at the Dail for a couple of days protesting against Civil Partnerships, judging by one of the blokes’ signs its just gay men they have a problem with, lesbians are okay obviously :)

Education cuts demo

Friday, December 12th, 2008

I’M going to attempt to catch up on things I have been meaning to post about, so first up is last weekend’s protest against the education cuts in the Budget.

And what an impressive turnout, tens of thousands took to the streets with an astonishing amount of placards. Merrion Square was completely decorated with them at the end of the day. Here’s some images from the afternoon and you can see more on Flickr.
